The most famous sunset scene of Phuket is undeniably at Phromthep Cape,
known to the local as Laem Jao (The Gods Cape.) Stretching into the
sea, the cape, Phuket’s southernmost point, is a prominent landmark for
mariners since the old days. Its tall cliff features a spectacular view
of the neighbouring island Koh Gaew and Nai Harn Beach. From the cliff
lie lines of palm trees, which run to the edge where the cape meets the
emerald green sea. Kanchanabhisek Lighthouse was built to
commemorate the 50th anniversary of H.M. the King’s ascension to the
throne. At the top of the lighthouse visitors can see the magnificent
view of the cape. Phromthep Cape is not far away from Rawai
Beach. From the beach, turn right and go for 2 kms. The cape can also
be reached by a road along Nai Han Beach.
